Spartacus the series

Hello Classmates:

 Today I will talk about Spartacus, a series that came out the last year, and it have had a lot of success. This series have been produced by “Starz”, a film studio that makes series based on historical stories, like Spartacus (based on the story of the slave in the roman empire) or Pendragon, a series based on the Arthur King legend.

 I watch Spartacus for first time on April of this year when I went home, and my parents had bought the full series on DVD. And when I saw it I got trapped with the plot instantaneously.  The plot is very intense and the script is awesome, the way that the characters speak is like heard speaking an antique roman.

The Series show the life of Spartacus as a gladiator since the moment when he gets into the barracks for first time until he riot with all the gladiators against their roman master or “numinus”. On the series you will see a lot of action, blood, suspense and scenes with sexual content. I think that all this characteristics together show very well the roman culture and life style and that is why I like so much this series.

Education and Creativity

Hi:

 Education and creativity is the topic for this post. I think that that is a really interesting topic, for the moment that we are living in our country and how is the occidental world educating their child. I have share the same point of view, that school kill creativity, from some time ago.

I’m agree that the schools doesn’t foment a development of our creativity, because everything that we learned in the school is something already done, we don’t need to think about how you get to some math formulas and why the formula is like it is. The only thing that we do (the most of the times) is learn something and then apply it (but not on the most of the cases).

If with the traditional knowledge given by the school there aren’t so many activities for develop the creativity, what could we expect about artistic subjects? I know that in other countries the school realize more artistic activities than in Chile, and they also have better implements for that. But the matter is that those kinds of activities are not the most important in the curricular contents. I think that one important part of the problem is, as Ken Robinson says, that the schools are made for prepare university people, and obviously not everyone has the same facilities and skills for that, but they are really good in arts for example.

I hope that the education would be saw in other way with the time, because there are every time more people that take care about this matter and are suggesting new kinds of education. In fact there are some schools that have different philosophies of education, like Waldorf or Montessori. I suppose that the reason of why we don’t have an education that stimulates our creativity is that the system need people who doesn’t care too much about why things happens. I think that creativity make a awake mind, not like a sheep who doesn’t occurred how to change things that are not right.

Magical Worlds

Hi people:

  Today I want to talk about the fiction, and about the books of fantasy and their worlds, like The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, The Chronicles of Narnia, etc. Since I was ten years old I like this kind of things, especially when I saw the movie of the Lord of the Rings. I really appreciate the authors of the books, because you need a lot of imagination for invent a story and more for invent new worlds where the stories happens.  

Ok, what I most like are the main characters that have to pass for a lot of fantastic adventures and they need to defeat monster and all those things. I always wanted to live an adventure like those in that kind of worlds, and travel in my horse huge distances for some crazy mission or just in search of adventures, staying in different towns and cities. There is a lot of classic kind of characters, and the one that I most liked are the wizards, with their tunics and rods, using their powerful magic in the battles. You know that in some video games, or roles games you can play in a fantasy world and do all those things that I have described, and the times that I have played it I always select a wizard for my character.

I don’t know why I feel attract by that kind of imaginary worlds, but I would love to live in one. Other thing that I always liked is the way that the people use to live on those stories, like on the middle age, without our technology.

I think that one character worthy of admiration is the Quixote, because he lived a life of adventures ass a knight just in his imagination. The book has a very, very deep story that goes more far than just the madness of the Quixote. There are a lot of reflections and learning for many, many people that has read it.

Websites (june 7 2011)

Hi guys:

  Ok, let’s talk about the internet, specify of the web sites that I use to visit more often than other websites. I think that one of the websites that I most time on, as a lot of my classmates hahaha, is facebook. I think that the reason of that is that on that website, we can do a lot of things of our social life that we can’t do in certain moments. For example if we are in our houses we cannot spent all our time talking by phone with our known people. Also facebook is very useful for organize parties or our classes for example.

 Other site that I visit very often is YouTube, and I also like it a lot. In YouTube I use to see music videos more than any other kind of video. I use it for learn songs in guitar sometimes or for search some songs that I´m searching for. One of the things that I like of You Tube is the variety of videos that you can find in it, and that is free for anyone who dispose a web connection to upload their videos. I think that You Tube is a website, with Google and Facebook, that has revolutionized the use of the internet everywhere in the globe.

Those are the two websites that I most time spend on, also I visit g-mail and Hotmail, but just for check my e-mail. I feel a little bit bad because I use internet just for things that are not really important, and I could use for any other things that I should care more. Finally, other page that I use to visit for get some laugh is Porlaputa hahhaha…

Guitar

Ok today I will talk about something that I really like, the guitar.

I think that first I need to make mention to the context of the guitar, the music, a thing that I really like also. I use to listen music every day and every moment that I can.  I find that the most of the music styles are good (except from reggeatone) and I also like almost all the music styles. I think that with the time you can get accustomed to some styles that you didn’t listen before, or at least that is what happens to me. Anyway I find music awesome.

Ok, but let’s talk about the guitar now. I’ve plaid guitar from eight or seven years ago, I started on the school. I decided to learn because my father sometimes plaid music with a band, and I really liked it, by other way he play guitar as well, so I has grown up with that. With the time I’ve known different guitar play styles, and I like the most of them, but I think that my favorites are classical, flamenco and rock.  

I guess that one of the things that I like of the guitar as an instrument, is so versatile, you can make a lot of different sounds just by how do you play, and now with technology the possibilities of make different sounds has increase in a considerably way. So it’s really exiting when you listen music and sometimes the guitar sounds really aggressive and powerful, and other really quiet and delicate, or sad, psycothelic, etc. And that's the reason about why is guitar my favorite instrument, and other thing that it’s really important is that I get a lot of fun playing it.  So that’s my story about my likes in music and instruments… bye!Ok today I will talk about something that I really like, the guitar.

Me and my Cousins

Hello:

 Ok let me tell you about this picture and why I like it. The persons that appear on this picture are my cousin Nicolas and my uncle Vartan (but he is like a cousin or brother). We know each other since I have memory I thing, and we have grown up and live a lot of things together. The good thing of these is that by the time our entertainments have been the same, so when we were child we use to play with toys and now we go out to parties and staffs like that.

The first picture was taken by my mom when I was three or four years old, in Santiago. I used to live in that house and that was one of the moments that we met because we use to see us really often.  The other picture was taken also by my mom, but this time, how you can see, we were older hahahah, it happens just like six months ago. The place of the picture is my house in Curacavi, and that place its great for the three of us because before that I lived there (like four years ago) my grandparents did it (they still live there), so we also have lived a lot of things on that farm. We decide to take it because somebody were searching something in the house and find that picture with other old ones, and the good coincidence was that the three of us were there that exact moment, so we said to take a similar picture, in the same positions to see the changes and differences. So that it’s what the picture shows, how the time has pass over us, and how we are after sixteen years later and we keep meting us. The idea is to take another picture like year by year to see the changes by the time. Thats all.

My Favorite Song

today I will talk about music, great!! So the thing is my favorite song... I like a lot of music, so it's a quite difficult to choose a favorite song, but any way, in the latest time I have been listening a song called "Burn", from a band named Deep Purple, one of the best rock bands of the history. The first time that I heard this song was on the summer, I knew deep purple from before but I didn’t listen it like I do it now, any way when I heard it by first time I get really excited with this song, but I didn’t know the name, so I asked to a friend about it and he told me the name and the band, so I got this songs and another ones from deep purple like lazy, highway star, etc.
  When I listen this song, I feel like really energized and exited, I think that this song has lot attitude and power, but what I like more than listen it, its play it on guitar, I love that I feel really good doing it. There is one thing more that I like from this song, and that is the guitar solo, it’s a really good and difficult also, I like it because it sounds like a blues guitar playing so fast, that makes a nice sound.
  The music stile of the song its hard rock, and this band (deep purple) started with the stile that will evolution to heavy metal.
